We should mention that we scheduled our Wedding weekend over the July 4th Holiday to help those traveling from out-of-town with an extra day off. On the downside, because of the Holiday, Hotels and Airlines will book faster that usual. Try to make your arrangements early!
Buffalo is primarily served by one main airport- Buffalo-Niagara International (airport code BUF) In general, airfares are reasonable to/from Buffalo, although the best fares typically involve a connection. Southwest is an exception, as they are hub-less and normally fly direct. An alternative to Buffalo-Niagara International is Toronto Pearson International Airport (airport code YYZ; approx. 90 mile drive from Buffalo). Fares in/out of Toronto can be very competitive, particularly from the West Coast. Some favorite online sites for airfare deals to Buffalo are Travelocity, Orbitz, and CheapTickets.
The Buffalo area straddles Interstate 90, which runs East/West across Massachusetts, New York, and Ohio. See a map here.
